A Story To Unfold

TEASER

As I stared out of the window I wondered what is wrong with this world. As far as my eyes can reach I see explosions, death and sorrow. My name is Gulistan and I was born in Iraq almost 13 years ago. The leaders of my country are in war, and we: the citizens, have to suffer. There doesn’t go a day by that I not fear for the lives of my family and mine. When it gets too much, I turn to the one person I can always rely on: Michael Jackson. Unfortunately I will never meet him. Iraq hates America and vice versa. But I dream. I believe that if I make a wish and truly believe that it’ll come true, it will. Every night, before I pray I’ll sit in front the only poster of him that I have and say to him: ‘Michael Jackson, please come to Iraq. We need you… I need you. Show how strong love can be and make it all better. Heal the world, heal Iraq!’ And sometimes if I concentrate myself very good I can hear him say: ‘Wait for me, Gulistan. It isn’t over yet.’ Then I say my prayers and go to sleep, waiting for another day to begin.

People laugh when they’re feelin sad
Someone is taking a life, hold on
Respect to believe in your dreams
Tell me where were you
when your children cried last night?

Faces fill with madness
Miracles unheard of, hold on
Faith is found in the winds
All we have to do
Is reach for the truth

And when that flag blows
There’ll be no more wars
And when all calls
I will answer all your prayers
